No turn out at 3 polling stations in Mao AC for repoll

Imphal, February 12: Not a single voter turned out in three polling stations at Mao Assembly Constituency for the repoll held in 11 polling stations spread across Senapati and Thoubal districts today.

The repoll in the 11 polling stations was ordered following reports of discrepancies in the first phase poll held on February 8. The first phase poll, held on February 8 covered 19 Assembly segments, including 10 in Thoubal district, six in Senapati district and three in Ukhrul district.

Repolling was held today in nine polling stations of Senapati district and two in Thoubal district.

Repoll was held in five polling stations in Mao Assembly Constituency today and out of this no voter turned out in three polling stations.

The three polling stations which drew blank today are, 48/15 Shajouba (A) Upper Shajouba UJB School, 48/16 Shajouba (B) Shajouba UJB School and 48/17 Shajouba (C) Shajouba UJB School.

The other two polling stations at Mao AC witnessed low voter turn out.

The polling stations are 48/1 Pudanamei (A) Pudanamei Junior High School and 48/2 Pudanamei (B) Pudanamei Junior High School.

Out of the 1340 registered voters at 48/1, 205 voters exercised their franchise rights to record a low 15.3 pc voter turn out while at 48/2, 309 of the 1178 voters exercised their rights to record a 26.2 pc turn out.

At Kakching Assembly Constituency in Thoubal district repoll was held at 37/25 Kakching Khullen High School while at Hiyanglam Assembly segment in the same district repoll was held 38/27 Thounaojam Primary School.

The voter turn out at Kakching was recorded at 91.68 pc while at Hiyanglam it was 92 pc.

Repoll was also held at one polling station in Karong Assembly Constituency in Senapati district.

The voter turn out for the repoll held at 47/9 Ngari Khullen LP School was put at 90 pc.

At Tadubi Assembly Constituency in Senapati district, repoll was held in three polling stations today.

49/6 Tadubi (A) Mao Maram Higher Secondary School recorded a voter turn out of 99.2 pc, 49/9 Rajamei UJB School 74.2 pc and 49/21 New Makhan (B) New Makhan Primary School 99.4 pc.

Though no voters turned out for the repoll in three polling stations at Mao AC, the election process for the first phase has been completed today and all requisite polling material are being kept at the district headquarters.

Security personnel have also returned from their poll duty to the district headquarters.

However the poll material and officials from 49/9 Tadubi AC and 47/29 Karong AC will reach the district headquarters tomorrow.

Counting for the election will start from February 27.
