Imphal, July 08: To put to rest the doubts and the controversy surrounding the results of the 1999 MCS/MPS examination, Chief Minister O Ibobi today informed the House that legal experts have been roped in to examine the results of the said examination.

The Chief Minister said this in reply to a call attention motion moved by FPM MLA I Hemochandra and some Cabinet Ministers to cancel the 1999 MCS/MPS examination.

Replying further, the Chief Minister said that as the examination was mired in some controversy, a case is pending with the Supreme Court.

As the matter is with the court it would be sub-judice to discuss the matter in the Assembly, the Chief Minister observed.

Moving the motion I Hemochandra said that people have lost confidence in the functioning of the MPSC which conducts the test for recruiting MCS and MPS officers.

The MLA also demanded fitting punishment for all those involved in the alleged mark tampering scandal.

He warned that if no action is initiated then a popular upsurge cannot be ruled out.

MPP president O Joy asked that the annual report of the MPSC be tabled in the House so that a detailed discussion can be held on its functioning.
