Imphal, July 03: Throwing its weight behind the stand of All Naga Students' Association, Manipur, the Naga Students' Federation has today warned the State Govt that if the democratic approach of ANSAM is not considered then NSF will take over the issue and the Government will not have any option but to confront them directly.

In a representation addressed to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, the apex student body of the Naga community said that it has been observing the developments ever since the Chief Minister announced unethical declaration of June 18 as a State holiday.

The student body said that the Naga people are aware of the genesis of the June 18, 2001 incident wherein 18 innocent youths were mercilessly gunned down.

The Naga student body also condemned the killing of the 18 youths but added that the incident was totally uncalled for and claimed that they were instigated by the master minds of the June 18 incident.

To save their own skin, the master minds have craftily twisted the incident as a revolutionary uprising and glorified them as martyrs, said the statement.

The paradoxical development is the decision of the SPF Government to go ahead and announce June 18 as a State holiday, said NSF and added that this can never be accepted and considered as a wise decision.

This is in fact a biased and illogical decision that purely testifies the Manipur's Government agenda of discriminating the Nagas and the Nagas will never ever succumb to this unaccepted tactics, asserted the student body.

Making its stand clear, NSF said that as long as the rights of the Naga people are not respected and as long as the democratic approach of ANSAM is not considered and complied with, the NSF will take over the issue.

This will lead to a situation where the Government will not have any option but a direct confrontation with the NSF, added the statement.
