Source: Manipur Mail

Imphal, July 31: Irom Sharmila Chanu, who has been refusing to take anything orally for the last 636 days in protest against the imposition of armed forces special power act in Manipur has not been able to utter even a single word from today, says a press hand out from Amuba Aain Louthoknaba Taksinba Tengbangba Nupisinggi Aonba Lup today.

The Chief Minister O Ibobi will come to meet her tomorrow morning.

It is not known how long she will survive, the hand out issued by K Taruni Convenor said.

It is really amazing that the Chief Minister O Ibobi has not spoken anything about the lifting of armed forces special power act from Manipur.

His stand of keeping mum on the matter is tantamount to showing disrespect to the desire and expectations of the people of the state, the hand out also said.

Sharmila had earlier said that she desires to meet the Chief Minister of Manipur, but there had been no word from the Chief Minister's side.

If Sharmila faces cruel death the responsibility should be faced by the Chief Minister, she also said.

The consequences of such fatal incident will be enormous to be shouldered by the men in power, she warned.

It is really unfortunate that the monsoon session of the state assembly did not bring up the issue for discussion in the House.

"Sharmila is fighting for all of us", the hand out said.

Let us all join together to fight against the diabolic act, the handout also said appealing to all women to wage the third Nupee Lal on the issue.
