Imphal, June 03 2009: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Dr Md.Islamuddin, Professor (Economics) and Proctor of MU has reacted to the statement of the Thailand-based National Liberation Support Group issued by its Chairman in connection with the killing of Prof Islamuddin which appeared on Hueiyen Lanpao.

The convenor of the JAC, Zakir Hussain stated that the condemnation and the agitations launched by right minded bodies of the state shown that the killing of Prof Islamuddin was unwarranted.

On the statement of the NLSG that the people of Manipur have enjoyed the fruits of the KYKL's ONK, the JAC statement asked the NLSG to deliberate how far the assertion was true.

The ONK of the KYKL has resulted in the untimely death of many vulnerable lives and it rendered many lives worthless to live with, the JAC statement asserted.

Advocating Capitalists openly yet indirectly, the outfit is mining huge amount of money from the Capitalists who are exploiting the poor people instead of standing against them, it asserted.

Asserting that there have been several government officials forcibly retired by the KYKL by publicly announcing who are still in government service, the JAC statement cited few of such instances including Commissioner of Education IS Laishram, former Joint Director of Education (S), Geeta Devi, former Education (U) director and Principal of LMS Law College, Dr Kiranchand, former senior grade Lecturer of Kha-Manipur College Joy Khaidem.

It also asked what punishment has been given to former MLA of Nambol Kendra and former Union Minister Thounaojam Chaoba after the KYKL announced death penalty for him.

It also stated that decision for awarding capital punishment should have been taken at the highest level after discussing the crimes deliberately.

It also asked the NLSG a group believed to have formed by some conspirators of the crime to know the achievement of the ONK stated by the JAC.

It also added that Prof Islamuddin might have not met his end yet had he been a member of the capitalists and had he been a capitalist.

Further, it also stated that there is no reason that the MU authority is also conspiring in the killing of Prof Islamuddin for its inactivity in restoring the academic atmosphere.

It contended that had not the VC and Registrar conspired in the killing, students, teachers and other staffs of the university would have joined the bereaved family in sharing their grief by declaring a holiday for a day.

However, the JAC is ready to launch agitations for booking of the culprits in the killing while also appealing all to support the JAC in its endeavour.
