Locals claim youth killed by CDOs as innocent

Imphal, January 30 2009: WITH A claim that the youth killed at Khuman Lampak on January 28 by the Imphal west police commandos as suspect militant was an innocent mechanic and living with by running a workshop at Churachandpur, locals of the Khumuchamba Meetei Leikai today formed a committee.

The killed youth identified as Thangjam Haridas (31) son of Deben was a civilian and he left home on that fateful day to buy vehicle spare parts from Imphal for his workshop.

He was survived by one child.

Decrying the killing, locals formed a committee called JAC against the killing of Th Haridas with Laishram Nilakanta as president and Kangabam Jamana as general secretary and called on with the chief minister today at the later bungalow.

The meeting with the chief minister concluded with no agreement when he (chief minister) alleged Hairdas to be a KYKL activist.

The JAC launch agitation till their demand is fulfilled by the government.

The JAC also urged the outfit which chief minister alleged to Haridas the truth behind it.

But the JAC said that they will take the dead body after postmortem at RIMS tomorrow.
