Imphal, April 12 2009: State Secretary of Indian Medical Association, (IMA) Manipur State Branch Dr A Vivekananda in a press statement deplored and deeply condemned the frequent grenade attacks at the residence of Dr Ch Chandramani and Dr T Bilashini Devi, Senior IMA members in recent past.

These terror tactics will demoralize the doctors and cause negative attitude to the patients and public who expects the doctors to practice the profession with missionary zeal, yet tolerate such humiliation and acts to terrorism against the doctors said the statement.

The association appeal to all organizations to leave the doctors at peace so that they can reciprocate in better patient care.

In view of such incidents and disturbances at the residences and health care centers, the IMA also requested the state government to enact an appropriate act in the lines of those in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states prohibiting acts of violence causing injury or danger to lives of Medicare service personnel.

Meanwhile, a combined meeting of three localities namely Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai, Hijam Dewan Leikai, Lourung Purel Leikai along with the senior citizens and local meira paibis held at the premises of Chingakham ground today evening in connection with the bomb blast at the residence of Dr Bilashini on the evening of April 11 last, appealed to all the unidentified armed organization not to repeat such incidents at crowded places where children, women and aged persons may get harmed and also appealed to disclose their identity and intentions regarding the bomb incident through local newspapers said a statement of North Imphal Youth Orient Club.

The statement further said that the meeting resolved to submit a memorandum to the honorable Chief Minister, O Ibobi to arrange security personnel to protect the whole locality of Thangmeiband from any untoward incidents in future.
