Forum condemns bus attack

Imphal, June 23 2010: Strongly condemning the june 21 morning incident of some unidentified miscreants pelting stones and causing damage to two passenger buses, the united Naga Forum, imphal has demanded that the State Government pay compensation to the bus owners.

A Forum statement issued by its general secretary Pantijai Newmai also insisted that passenger carriers plying in between Imphal and Mao section of NH-39 be provided security cover and appealed to all concerned to refrain from undesired activities that could disturb peace and tranquillity in the society.

The Forum further recounted that two scooter-borne persons with their faces covered pelted stones at Sangakpham Bazar area that shattered front windshield of a passenger bus (MN01/0341) driven by one Sekho Poumei of Tungjoy village in Senapati district and belonging to Haba Poumei of Saranamei village, also in Senapati district.

The other bus attacked on the same day near 2nd MR Gate was driven by SK Chao Poumei of Thingba Khunou (Senapati) and owned by one ngouni Poumei of Purul village, Senapati.

Apart from the front windshield damaged in the second attack a woman passenger suffered head injuries, added the Forum statement.
