IED explodes at LDA office Grenade left hanging at Pradhan's house

Imphal, January 21 2010: A powerful bomb, allegedly planted by unknown militants, exploded at the office of the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) in Bishnupur district of Manipur in the wee hour of Thursday, police report said.

Another bomb was found hanging at the veranda of residence of a pradhan in the same this morning at about 6 pm.

The bomb at the LDA office at Ningthoukhong some 45 km south-west from here went off at around 2.20 am damaging a machine and parts of the office building, police report said.

No one suffered any injury in the bomb explosion believed to have been planted by militants.

Motive behind the incident was not yet known.

None of the underground groups owned up responsibility for the incident.

On the other hand, a hand grenade was found kept hanging at the residence of the Pradhan of Kodompokpi Gram Panchayat identified as Kanta under Nambol police station.

The bomb, found hanging at the front veranda of the house at about 6 am, was later defused and disposed off by the personnel of the state police bomb squad, police said.
