Imphal, May 28 2010: Protesting against the firing at innocent villagers by State forces at Noney area today, the Zeliangrong Students Union, Manipur has imposed a total bandh in Tamenglong district from midnight of May 29 till midnight of June 6.The Senapati District Students' Association has also called a 48 hours total bandh in the district from midnight of May 31 till midnight of June 2.In a statement, the SDSA said that it was constrained to impose the bandh to protest the May 6 incident at Mao Gate, where two students were killed as well as the repeated harassments and terrorising the public of Senapati by the State forces.

Recalling some incidents, SDSA said that on May 22, the State forces tore the letter heads of the student body at Mao Gate, which was an insult.

An ultimatum was also submitted to the IG V Zathang to protest the harrasment and assault of civilians by IRB men stationed at 7 MR post at Taphou.
