TIPS photo exhibition opens

Imphal, January 16 2009: ANOTHER THREE-DAY long photo exhibition to aware the people on the present trend of violation of right to life of the people by both state and non-state agents organized by the Threatened Indigenous People Society (TIPS) opened today at Yaingangpokpi Bazaar in Imphal East.

The opening function of the exhibition was graced by social worker Kh Ibomcha as chief guest.

President of Youth Progressive Front, Yaingangpokpi, S Vedjit, President of Meira Paibi Lup, Yaingangpokpi, Sh Ranihal, President of TIPS Aslam Khan and president of Ching-tam Sheishak Lup Bhimo also attended the opening function.

Kh Ibomcha while speaking on the occasion said that the spree of killings and other crimes occurring without a day break in the state and the problems of drug abuse and HIV/AIDS are the factors hammering the developmental activities in the state.

Every activity in all spheres in the society is going downward day by day.

It indicated that the state society is marching ahead towards extinction.

He also said that the future generation has nothing to inherit from today's generation other than killings and crimes that witness today.

On the other hand the huge influx of immigrants in the state is posing threats to the survival of the indigenous people of the state, he said adding "it is the right time for the people of the state to shun dividing among us and turn toward the developmental activities and save the state for future.

President of TIPS, Aslam Khan said that the objective of the photo exhibition was an effort to incite a sense of unity among the people against the crimes prevailing in the society.
