Imphal, May 09 2010: A public meeting organised by Lamlai unit of the UCM was held at Yainganpokpi in Imphal East district today during which elders and leaders of various communities participated.

The meeting organised against the proposed visit of NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah to Manipur was presided by UCM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar and UCM finance secretary BM Yaima Shah as the guest of honour.

Along with other functionaries of the UCM, chairman of Laikot village L Thangsho Kom graced the occasion as presidium members, said a release.

speakers at the public gathering stressed on the need to exercise restrain and oppose alleged move by the Government of India to create divisions amongst ethnic communities settled in the state with the intention to destabilise Manipur.

They also emphasised on the need to stand unitedly in this hour of uncertainty triggered by the Centre's approval on Muivah's visit.
