Imphal, June 03 2010: Demanding expeditious development of NH-53, raising/deployment of highway protection force and immediate lifting of economic blockade being enforced on both NH-39 and 53, a sit-in-demonstration followed by a protest rally was organised yesterday at Sagolband Khamnam Bazar area under the aegis of All Manipur Nupi Lup.

Representatives of women bodies (meira paibis) of Ramji (Kinthanlong) Kabui Khul, Sangaiprou Kabui Khul, Khamnam Leirak, Moirang Hanuba Leirak and Soyam Leirak participated at the protest demonstration cum rally.

Vice president of the host Lup Sakhi Devi told newspersons that the issue of highway protection force would be taken up at the meeting of Indian National Federation of Indian Women to be held at Hyderabad on June 7.Moreover, an executive meeting of the Lup tomorrow will deliberate on submission of memoranda to the Chief Minister and Central Government leaders with regard to setting up and deployment of highway protection force.
