Imphal, February 02 2010: The Manipur People's Party charging that till date there has been no sincere effort from the side of the government to bring to justice all those criminals involved in a series of heinous crime, asked why it has not been able to arrest those persons involved in the gruesome murder of Chanbi and Menaka of Phayeng.

Where is the intelligence department? The party contended that the government is not making all out effort to nab the culprits.

In a press release signed by its General Secretary (publicity), the party stated that the manner in which the mother - daughter duo of Phayeng and Ratanmala of Khurai were killed is an indicator that some amongst our society is becoming worse than beast.

The government will only stir from its inactivity when there is a people's movement, because it is only then that they will make all efforts to resolve the issue.

The government has failed to control its own security personnel many of whom have been involved in killings, extortion, bomb hurling.

In such a scenario, how can we expect this government to control other elements, asked the release.

Further, it said that the government keeps talking about 'peace' but people long for that peace with all their heart.

In the end it exhorted the government to end all these killings and show that there is a government at the helm of affairs.
