KYKL clarifies once again

Imphal, May 30 2009: The proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) has once again issued an elaborate statement of clarifications on the killing of Prof Md Islamuddin.

Secretary, Publicity and Research, KYKL, Lan-ngamba Mangang stated that the KYKL had given the ex-Dean of Students' Welfare of Manipur University, Prof Islamuddin capital punishment on May 25 .

Everybody naturally feels shocked at killing a teacher.

It's usual that various civil society organisations and other bodies are expressing statements of condemnations.

However, Lanngamba pointed out, it's very unfortunate that there are communal tones in the statements of condemnation issued by organisations of Meitei Pangal brethren and described KYKL as a party that deliberately ill-treats the Meitei Pangal community.

In their statement of protest, the Manipur University Muslim students' Union (MUMSU) had said, "The brutal murder of Prof Islamuddin within MU campus in front of students smacked of an assumption that Islamuddin belonged to a minority community and that no one would dare fight for him." The DM colleges Muslim Students' Union (DMCMSU) had stated that killing of Prof Islamuddin is a direct threat to the Muslim community and "Kill all Muslim minority students." The DMCMSU has also said that it would have been much better to drive off all Muslims from Manipur when their number was little".

Reading all these statements, it's shocking and unbelievable, Lanngamba stated.

Before taking the decision to give him the punishment, the party never felt that Prof Islamuddin was a Pangal, a minority, a precious educated man among the educationally backward Pangals, etc.

What the party thought was only to cleanse the nest of misdeeds which was being built within the MU.

There is no such thought in KYKL as Meitei Hindu, Meitei Pangal, Meitei Christian, Meitei Buddhist, Meitei atheist and so on.

All these are not seen as different communities, all are seen as Meiteis and fellow "Kangleichas." This is also written in the constitution of the party.

"Even amonst us, there are Meitei Pangals," Lanngamba pointed out.

As regards the recent election of MUSU, the party thought that a lot had been written again and again, there is no need to write again, what had already been written was complete by itself.

However, having studied the statements issued by the Meitei Pangal brethren, the party feels it necessary to clarify once again the reasons as to why the party had taken the harsh step, Lanngamba stated.

He asserted that the disease theMU is suffering within cannot be seen outwardly but inside it has penetrated through the core and is more serious than cancer that'll be difficult to treat.

The MU has been turned into a private fiefdom of some wrong-doers.

The group of these people has established itself as a clique and functions as a clique.

Only those persons approved by this clique get promotion, only those approved by this clique can get appointed.

And this clique puts a lot of obstacles in the way of those who are not approved by it.

This clique is immortal.

Though senior persons go on retirement, only those who are approved by this clique replace them.

Because of this clique, corruption has become a culture in MU.

There are students in the mu who know that any student, who has been studying in the university for one or two years and wants to get a job here, they must join the clique, or else they can't get.

Teachers who newly joined the university are also looking at the clique in order to ensure their place.

The clique is growing day by day.

Moreover, their corrupt activities are also growing.

Today their wrong doings have reached the stage of shamelessness.

In a democratic rule, bad rulers may be removed by means of election, but who will remove this clique from the MU? Everyone needs to ponder over it.

To KYKL, in order to save MU, the clique needs to be destroyed and in order to destroy the clique, harsh steps including killings need to be taken, the party feels, Lanngamba stated.

(to be concluded) .
