Imphal, February 14 2009: Suspected UGs exploded a bomb at place some 80 meter away from the Wangoi police station along the Mayai Lambi road tonight at around 7.15 pm.

No casualty in the blast, official report said.

At the time of blast, a team Wangoi police is conducting frisking and checking operation under the supervision of its officer in-charge.

Reports said that the bomb exploded near the house of one Sagolsem Achouba (70) located on the side of the Mayai Lambi road where a work shed of bamboo situated.

The bomb exploded had the workers at the work shed left the place for depositing the equipments, they use after taking hand-off for the day.

Police believed that the bomb has been exploded by militants on the seeing the police conducting frisking and checking as family of Achouba said that there were no threats or demand to them by any militant group.

After the blast took place, residents of the area gathered to keep the house the whole night vigil there after recently from local body People Protection Committee conducted a campaign to come out the people and discussed the matter arising out of the blast.

According to the committee, a public meeting will also held tomorrow to discuss on the matter of explosion of bomb at the populated area.
