Imphal, May 08 2010: Consequent upon unavailability of diesel as well as other fuel oils in the State, passenger bus service is most likely to be halted completely.

Speaking to media persons at their office at Governor Road this afternoon, secretary of All Manipur Bus Owners' Association Arambam Priyokumar said that all passenger bus services will be suspended from May 10 if the Government does not take up necessary measures to ensure availability of diesel by May 9 .

He further appealed to the people of both the hills and valley to bear the inconveniences that would ensue suspension of bus service which would continue until diesel is available in oil pumps.

Members of All Manipur Bus Owners' Association called on the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Y Erabot today and talked about a special arrangement to make diesel available to public transporters.

However, the transporters were peeved with the response of the Minister.

Subsequently, the association submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through MLA Bijoy Koijam.

Priyokumar said that all passenger bus service will be suspended from May 10 if no positive response is forthcoming from the Government.
