Imphal, April 08 2009: Miscreants, among whom one was a woman today, gunned down two youths at the bylane near the Khumbong Bazar under Patsoi police station in Imphal west.

One of the youth identified as Yumnam Shanti (25) son of Nando of Langol Ningthou Leikai succumbed injury at the spot while the other youth who sustained two bullets injury identified as Heikrujam Tikendra (25) son of H Guneshwor of Langol Housing Complex succumbed to injuries at Shija Hospital where he was brought up.

The two youths were shot at with guns by some miscreants this afternoon at around 4.30 pm.

Eyewitness accounts said that the youths who came out on foot were shot at by the miscreants who came on an auto-rickshaw parked at the Khumbong Bazar who were apparently waiting for them there.

Only two miscreants including a woman came on to the auto-rickshaw.

When the two injured youths were seen coming out, the woman assailant took out a small gun and handed over to the other man who was with she and shot at them.

Shanti was hit by a bullet the back side and he died near a medical store of the Khumbong Bazar while Ticket was hit by two bullets, one at the right chest and at the belly who was immediately rushed to the Shija hospital died later.

As disclose by Tickendra before he succumbed, one of the assailant was one Momo hailing from near Chingmeirong MCB, a sympathizer of the PREPAK outfit.

According to the families, the two youths went out with a Honda Activa this morning at around 10.30 am.

Shanti was a driver of a bus playing along the Impha-Moreh route while Tikendra was waiting for the result out of the IRB recruitment rally which he appeared.
