Imphal, July 12 2009: Bombs are not mean for attacking civilians but it is for war, said the womenfolk protesting against the militants attacking at the resident of an engineer in Imphal east district Sunday.

Residents of Wangkhei in Imphal today stage a sit-in protest against militants exploding bombs at the residential areas following the bomb explosion at the house of an engineer of the state public works department yesterday.

In the series of bomb attacks on the houses of the individuals in Manipur, a bomb blasted at the house of assistant engineer, Akham Narendradaja posting at building division of the PWD yesterday at around noon.

The hand grenade was reportedly hurled by one of two youths coming together on foot.

It exploded at the garage situated in front of the house of the engineer.

By the impact of the bomb, damage caused to a motorcycle, an Activa Honda and house at the neighbour of the engineer.

No casualty reported in the blast.

Around 100 womenfolk and menfolk staged a sit-in protest at a public ground near the resident of the engineer who is currently not at home expressing strong condemnation and decry to the act of the militants causing panicky to the residents of the area.

"The explosion has frightened locals specially minor children.

Why this group of people (militants) who are said to be struggling for freedom turning towards the civil populace.

Are they arming to extort money," asked of the women participating in the protest.

If the militants continue to threatened people with bombs and guns, one day people may rise up and shouted against them.

Are they waiting for the same, another man taking part in the protest gone on asking? .

The sit-in protest, which commenced from 10 am went on till 4 pm, appealed the militants groups not to repeat such act which amount to cause panic to the people against in future.
