Three killed in separate incidents

Imphal, February 08 2009: At least three suspected undergrounds have been gunned down by the security forces in different parts of the state during its counter insurgency operations.

A combined team of Imphal west police commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry killed two suspects at Ngairakpam village under Patsoi police station of Imphal west this late evening at around 6.55 pm while troops of Assam Rifles killed another person seems to be non-local at a place lying between Wangphuklok and Shamukon village under Tengnoupal police station of Chandel district last night at around 7.55 pm. Police report said the two suspects were killed in an encounter and recovered a 9mm pistol, one .32 pistol loaded with live ammunitions and a motorcycle (Bajaj Pulser MNA-05-2080).The dead bodies have been collected from the spot by the Patsoi police station and deposited at RIMS morgue for official procedures, the report said.One of the slain men has a cross mark tattoo on his left hand. Troops of 29 Assam Rifles also killed a non-local last night at around 7.55 pm at a place located between Wongphuklok and Shamukom villages some 25 km north of Tengnoupal police station of Chandel district in what reports said killed in encounter. An M-16 rifles with a magazine loaded with 10 live rounds and other materials like comb, shocks, soap, tooth paste, handkerchief in a bag with some medicines were recovered from the slain person whose identity is yet to be established. The unknown slain person is apparent to be a businessman and height around 5 feet and age around 35 year.

For identification, the body has been deposited at RIMS morgue, Imphal by the police today.
