Imphal, March 06 2009: The Senior Citizens for Society (SCS) in a press statement issued by its General Secretary, L Sadananda deeply condemned the recent murder of three innocent non-locals by unknown assailants in Imphal and also shared the deep pain and anguish of the bereaved families.

The Association strongly feels that such incidents will only create bad blood among various communities living in the country.

SCS fervently appealed to the perpetrators of the crime to deeply introspect and stop killing hereafter for the sake of peaceful coexistence and harmony in the country.

While appreciating the recent initiatives taken by the state government for protection of non-local workers in the state, the SCS expressed deep regret over the inaction of the government on payment of ex-gratia to the bereaved families in absence of any pressure from any pressure group.

The SCS statement urged upon the state government to pay due ex-gratia to the bereaved families without any discrimination.
