Imphal, June 17, 2010 Even though vehicles have lined up in long queues at various fuel outlets, distribution/ sale of petrol and diesel is unlikely tomorrow on security ground.

A Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Department source said inspite of petrol/diesel allocation already made to fuel outlets provision of the same is unlikely tomorrow as the June 18 observance necessitates adequate deployment of security personnel.

On its part, the Department has already ap proved sale of petrol and diesel at the enlisted pumps tomorrow, the source in formed.

When contacted, top police officers of both Imphal East and West districts confirmed that security arrangement had not been initiated for provision to fuel outlets as focus at the current juncture is to ensure trouble-free observance of June 18. As security arrangement is yet to be made for the fuel distribution, which had been deferred since yesterday chances of sale of the essential item tomorrow is very remote, the officials maintained.
