Imphal, May 11 2009: EVEN AS the police have been in an overdrive to trace the killer(s) of a 27 year old housewife, Aheibam ongbi Rasheswor alias Bembem, who was found shot death inside her room on the night of May 2 at Iroishemba Maning Leikai under Lamphel police station, the husband of the deceased housewife remains absconding.

Responding to a query over the police's action in regard to the incident, the Senior Superintendent of Police of Imphal West district, L Kailun told Hueiyen Lanpao that the Lamphel police have been putting all out efforts to trace the culprits involved in the killing.

The Senior SP further tipped off the possibility of the involvement of a family member in the killing incident quoting the indications hinted by neighbours and family members during police interrogation.

The police have also been closely observing the movement of the family members.

The husband of the young widow, Aheibam Gee, doesn't return to his home after leaving his home two days after the performance of the last rite of his wife for reason best known to him, the SSP said.

Though the SSP doesn't want yet to draw the conclusion that the deceased's husband has been involved in the killing of the housewife, he admits the possibility of his involvement on the basis of various sources.

L Kailun further said that the police have started collecting information from various sources to trace the absconded husband.

Meanwhile, another police source said that the family members had already submitted a representation to the police mentioning the likely reasons of the involvement of her husband in the killing incident.

However, all the speculations about the involvement of the husband can be proved after he is possessed.

It may be recalled that the husband of the deceased wife had told Hueiyen Lanpao on the day when the post mortem of the dead body was conducted at RIMS Morgue that his wife was found murdered the last evening after he and their daughter went to a local shop to buy some edibles while admitting his helplessness in establishing a clue to the killers.

At the same time, local source said that the killer of the young housewife was his husband.

It said that there had been rift between the husband-wife relations over the husband's reported infidelity.

The locals also said that some unknown gunmen had left their gun at the house of Rasheshore few days back before the occurrence of the incident while adding that same gun was used in killing the housewife.

On the basis of utterance of their five year old daughter who tells people that her father had killed her mother, the source said that the husband could be the killer of the young housewife.
