Imphal, November 06 2008: DENOUNCING POLICE commandos killing people allegedly after bringing in locality, hundreds of locals of Thambal Khong under Porompat police station tonight blocked the police commandos who came out after killing two suspected militants in what they claimed killed in encounter.

They also blocked reporters who rushed to the spot on getting the information stating that they would file their reports as killing the two youths in encounter while according them not a true one.

With the gunning down of the two, police commandos killed at least three suspected militants in two separate incidents occurred on Thursday in different parts of state, official source said.

Earlier, reporters of local newspapers and print media rushed to the spot at Sabal Leikai Meetei-pangal Leirak, two kilometer away on the south west of the Porompat police station on getting reports that two suspected militants were killed by the Imphal east police commandos during an encounter there this evening at around 6 pm.

Police commandos were found there with a small gun said to be recovered from the position of a slain man in which they claimed killed during an encounter.

Locals said that they could hear gun firing sounds only after around 20 minutes had the police commandos entered to the spot.

Some locals mostly women took out to the by-lane after hearing the gun firing sounds and blocked the police commandos coming out from the spot.

When the police informed them of killing two militants in an encounter there, anguish people have a heated argument denouncing the police statement.

People shouted with many bad languages towards the police commandos.

Reporters who came out from the spot also intercepted with the crowd and they barred them from leaving the place alleging that reporters also colluded with the police as they arrived at the spot as soon as the firing occurred with much gap of time.

Meanwhile, police said that a 9 mm pistol loaded with three live rounds, 10 demand letters of the KRA(U) and seven letters heads of PULF were recovered from the positions of the two slain men.

Later, Porompat police retrieved the dead bodies and at Tangjeng village near a school under the Thoubal district police station this early morning at around 2 am.

A 9 mm pistol loaded with two live rounds of ammunitions was recovered from the slain suspect KCP cadre, police said.

Police said he was killed in a brief gun battle between the police commando personnel who rushed to the area based on a tip-off loitering some anti-social elements and some armed suspected militants.

Other militants managed escaped taking advantage of the darkness of the time.
