Imphal, May 17 2010: A public meeting attended by Zeliangrong village authorities/Pei, Churches, youth clubs, scholars, intellectuals, social leaders and people from all walks of life from different parts of Manipur valley was held at Majorkhul community hall yesterday.

The meeting decided not to leave their respective homesteads and head for hill districts based on false alarm sounded from certain quarters in the backdrop of the prevailing volatile situation.

The meeting also urged the State Govt to bring an amicable solution with ANSAM so that the blockade being clamped along the two National Highways may be lifted.

It also decided to maintain peace and tranquillity and not to spread rumours which may flare up communal tension.

The meeting also resolved to check and control sale of local liquor and fix closing time as 7 pm in all Zeliangrong localities.

It also decided to hold discussions, meetings and consultations on the current situation.
