Imphal, December 04 2009: While a large number of people, specially women have been organising rallies, meetings, workshops, seminars, etc.

during the last several weeks to discuss means to stop violence against women, a bizarre incident of a man murdering his wife by throttling her has happened in Thoubal district last night.

The killer husband identified as H Ibomcha (46) strangulated his wife to death.

Reacting to the incident, angry locals set ablaze his house and later on ostracized him from the locality.

The deceased has been identified as Pishakmacha (41).She is survived by her three children.

The dead body was found 1km away from her house.

According to the locals, arguments between Ibomcha and Pishakmacha were a daily norm since Ibomcha was abandoned by his second wife a few months back.

It has also been reported that the accused had been living with his second wife on Airport Road, Imphal.

His second wife had reportedly eloped with another man, since then H.Ibomcha had returned to his Thoubal home and started living with his first wife and their children.

Meanwhile, the culprit had surrendered himself to the police on early Friday morning.

He went to the Thoubal police station along with his three children.
