Imphal, May 31 2009: Delhi Association of Manipuri Muslim Students (DAMMS) today organised a protest march and sit-in-protest against the killing of Prof Md Islamuddin in New Delhi.

A press release e-mailed to this newspaper by DAMMS general secretary Shahid A Jalaly stated that the killing of Prof Islamuddin has shaped a march awakening against atrocities committed by armed groups of Manipur.

The allegations made by KYKL against the professor are totally baseless and self defeating statements to support their wrong atrocities, Shahid A Jalaly stated.

Their presence and influence among the students in the state has not only brought about a very tense atmosphere, but also among the students living outside the state.

The MU has become a hotbed of all anti-social elements, the press release said adding that the VC and the Registrar who were part of the election committee were also involved in a very nasty conspiracy to elminate the said professor.

It is obvious that the Late professor was victimised and singled out all because of the pressure of the armed terror groups of Manipur and he was a victim in the cold war of the armed groups who are trying to gain supremacy over one another, Shahid A Jalaly said.

The government has also clearly demonstrated that they can not further safeguard the basic rights of the minorities communities in the state, he stated and drew the attention of the central government to act now to safeguard the interest of the minority communities.
