Intentional firing unlikely, ponders AG Koteshwar

Imphal, March 22 2010: Advocate General N Koteshwar, who had been undergoing treatment of the bullet injuries received from the licensed gun of TD Minister DD Thaisii but fired by Works Minister K Ranjit, has been temporarily discharged from AIIMS, New Delhi.

The Advocate General has also stated that the gun do not seem to have been fired at him intentionally and he would prefer peaceful resolution of the matter.

Talking to The Sangai Express over the telephone late evening today, Koteshwar who is at New Delhi informed that his condition has improved but would still be required to undergo various tests as his nerves are damaged.

After he was taken to AIIMS for further treatment from Shija Hospital on March 14, the injured Advocate General was temporarily discharged from the hospital on March 16.But as his nerves have been damaged, he is still waiting for more tests to be conducted by the doctors next week.

Koteshwar further conveyed that the doctors who treated him have also informed that he needs to be under observation for three weeks.

When asked about his opinion on the measures being taken up by the Govt in connection with the incident, Koteshwar said that though he had heard about an FIR being registered, as he does not read newspapers, he does not pay much attention to the things happening back home.

In response to a question on the incident that took place inside the car he was travelling along with the two Ministers on March 6, the Advocate General observed that firing of the bullet from the gun of Minister Thaisii by Minister Ranjit on him did not appear to be intentional.

The injured Advocate General said that at present he is not taking any keen interest on the incident that took place as his main concern now is to improve condition of his health.

The possibility of infection on his bullet wound is very high, he added.

While conveying gratitude to all the people for their support, the Advocate General also opined that he would prefer peaceful resolution of the matter.

It may be recalled here that the incident of opening fire at the Advocate General occurred on March 6 while returning together from participating in a function at Hundung, Ukhrul.
