Three who shot hall owner arrested

Imphal, November 19 2009: In the followed action to the shooting to injure of the proprietor of the Janata Hall, Moirang Lamkhai, Bishnupur police commandos apprehended three cadres of KCP (MC) including two sibling brothers, Lamyanba Khuman group.

The three apprehended KCP(MC) cadres were identified as Angom Tomba alias Inaoton (27) son of A Ibocha of Moirang Khunou, his brother Inoacha (21) and Khwairakpam Kapil alias Santosh alias Athouba (19) son of Kh Joykumar of Phubala Mamang Makha Leikai.

Among the apprehendees, Kapil was an awardee of the painting competition held at Bigyan Bhavan, New Delhi in December 2005.He represented Manipur in the competition.

They were involved in the shooting to injure of proprietor of the Janata Hall, Konjengbam Jiten of Moirang Lamkhai last night at about 8.30 pm, according to SP, Bishnupur who informed that two 9 mm pistol loaded with two rounds each recovered from their possessions.

SP, Jayentakumar said that the three were apprehended this early morning when police commandos conducted raid at Moirang and Phubala areas based on specific information.

Police also came to know that they were involved in various crimes during interrogation.

They were involved in the hurling and explosion of bomb at the house of one RK.

Arunkumar of Ningthoukhong ward no.8 Radha Mandop on October 30, bomb attack at the Maibia Gas Agency on November 1, at the house of the principal of Moirang College AK Sunder and other crimes occurred in Bishnupur area in connection with monetary demands to the government officials and individuals, the SP alleged.

Jayenta further observed that with the apprehension of the three cadres, various crimes relating with attacking of houses of government officials and individuals for extortion.

The effort of the additional SP, SDPO of the district has finally succeeded, he claimed.

Among the three, Kapil disclosed that he was an awardee of the national painting competition held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi in December 2005 as revealed by himself to the police.

The weapons seized from them were used in attacking the proprietor of the Janata Cinema, the SP stated.
