Itanagar, June 15 2010: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union and the All Manipur Students' Union, have called for the immediate withdrawal of the economic blockade being imposed on all the National Highways leading to Manipur.

Addressing a press conference at Itanagar yesterday, president of AAPSU Takam Tatung said that the time has come for the Centre to intervene and ease the tension building up amongst the different ethnic groups.

Taking pot shots at the silence of the North East Students' Organisation, during this time of crisis, the student leader said if no initiative is taken up by June 20, then AAPSU would rally and mobilise the other student organisations of the region to find a solution.

AMSU president Irengbam JB Mangang, while appreciating the stand of AAPSU appealed to the Centre and the Naga Students' Federation to act according to the ground realities.

Condemning the recent killings of two students at Mao Gate on May 6 and demanding an inquiry into it, the AMSU leader said that the Centre should repeal AFSPA from the North East.
