Imphal, May 02 2010: Polling for the second phase of the Autonomous District Council elections will be held on June 2.Even as the ADC polls are mired in controversies, preparation for the second phase of polling to be held in Senapati, Ukhrul and Tamenglong districts has been completed.

Gazette notification will be issued tomorrow, said an official source.

The State Election Commission has also announced that intending candidates for the second phase election to the ADCs, may submit their nomination papers at the office of the DC, Imphal West at Lamphelpat.

Towards this end, the Election Commission has ordered that the Returning Officers shall station one of the designated Assistant Returning Officers at the Imphal West DC office.

This arrangement has been made as there is possibility that intending candidates may be coerced or intimidated against filing their nomination papers, said a circular issued by the State Election Commission today.

For the second phase of ADC polls, May 10 is the last date of filing nomination papers whereas May 13 has been fixed as the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.

Scrutiny will be done on May 11 .

73 ADC members will be elected in the second phase of the polling.

For the first phase which covers Sadar Hills, Chandel and Churachandpur, May 3 is the last date for filing nomination papers.
