Imphal, December 01, 2009: The underground United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) condemned the brutal murder of Reyamkhup Kom, former chief of Thayong village on the night of November 25 by unidentified armed miscreants in front of his wife and other family members.

A statement issued by Mathew Thadou, information and publicity secretary of the UKLF asserted that the outfit is strongly opposed to any kind of force assimilation of smaller tribes by bigger ethnic groups.

It stated that it is against the outfit's policy of re-unification.

It noted that the disintegration of Kuki society had taken place since the last so many years from religious, political and social angles.

It is the time for everyone to rectify the past mistakes on joint efforts instead of aggravating the problem created by former Kuki leaders.

Stating that the outfit is desirous of peaceful co-existence of all ethnic tribes big or small on the principle of mutual respect and honour to each identity, the statement urged the group concerned in the killing of Reyamkhup to clarify through the media.

In case the group concerned fails to clarify, the UKLF will initiate an investigation on its own and befitting punishment would be awarded accordingly.

The outfit also shared the pain and sorrow of the bereaved family members and friends of the deceased.
