Imphal, August 01 2010: Responding with indignation to the opinion aired during the discussion session of the 7.30 am news on AIR today, the Transporters' and Drivers' Council has categorically stated that it was on their own will and accord that they decided never to ply on NH-39 again.

Till today, there is no change in the stand, said the Council in a statement and added that they have not decreed that no one should take the NH-39 route.

Dragging in the name of ANSAM and UNC to the decision of TDC is totally uncalled for, it said and added that they have launched their mission because the past stands testimony to the fact that the Government turns a blind eye to NH-53, once transporters start taking the NH-39 .

A number of demands have been raised to upgrade and repair NH-53 and accordingly numerous clubs have also been formed towards this end, but all faded without achieving their target, said the statement.

The transporters have given up all thoughts of profit or financial gains and the efforts being put into the develop NH-53 is for the betterment of the future, it added.
