Imphal, April 23 2009: THE BANNED United National Liberation Front (UNLF), Manipur has refuted the claim made by the PRO, HQ IG AR (South) of killing two cadres of UNLF yesterday afternoon at Manipur-Myanmar border pillar No.84 .

Ksh Yoiheiba, Senior Publicity Officer of the Department of Publicity, UNLF today stated that the AR's claim was a fabricated and false news.

It was a weak attempt made by the PRO of Assam Rifles to redeem at least some of their lost image as they had lost over 14 lives in the Manipur People's Army (MPA)'s attacks recently in Ukhrul district.

It was a delirium of the AR which has been shamelessly repeated time and again, Yoiheiba stated.

He emphasised that there is no report of such incident having occurred in any of the units of UNLF/MPA.

The claim that the AR recovered one pistol of 9 mm and one .32 revolver is a clear example of carelessness on part of the AR in fabricating stories.

None of the cadres of MPA operating in the hills is issued any weapon less than AK/SMG.

This is a fact well known to the people.

It was the result of their habit which they cultivated in the valley where they arrest persons and shoot them to death, then put camouflage on the corpse and place any weapon near it and claim that some insurgents had been killed in encounters, which are fake, he said.

He asked if the report is true, then where the dead bodies were.

Have they been lost in the winds? Or in order to make it look real, where would they arrest innocent civilians from and kill them? This needs to be investigated properly, Yoiheiba stated.
