Hoho questions Delhi's sincerity

Imphal, May 20, 2010: Saying that Union Home Secretary GK Pillai and interlocutor RS Pandey had given their commitment to replace Manipur police commandos and IRBs with central paramilitary force in Manipur during different meetings at Kohima and Viswema village, the Naga Hoho has questioned the sincerity of the Govt of India as to why they have not yet implemented the assurance given to the Naga people in letter and spirit.

A press release issued by the Naga Hoho said that Manipur police commandos have been still operating particularly in Mao and Tadubi areas.

It said that the displaced persons will not hesitate to go back home as and when the Govt of India implement their commitment in the interest of both the neighboring States.

Curfew which has been partially lifted from Naga inhabited areas of Manipur should be totally lifted for free and easy passage of the displaced people, it said.

The Naga Hoho also accused the Manipur State security forces of committing gross human rights violation in Mao area.
