Imphal, April 12 2009: The flag hoisting ceremony of Th Chaoba, common candidate of four party allianceManipur Democratic Alliance (MDA) was held today at the house of the candidate located at Utlou in Bishnupur district.

Thousands of people who came from different assembly constituencies attended the ceremony cum election rally.

Addressing the huge audience, the former Union Minister, Th Chaoba appealed to them to assign him the public service in order to save the state from extinction due to unabated killings, and the state government's failure to protect people's lives and properties.

Or else the state will be finished.

The land, where the food you eat is tasty and where you live is nice, today has become a killing field.

The price of commodities has soared up sky high.

There is no administration.

Let us try to bring a new change, Chaoba said, drawing full attention of the huge crowd.

President of MPP, Dr L Chandramani said, it is well-known that all these killings in the state were the handi-work of Congress and CPI.

This is a wrong agenda or theirs.

They are the ones who refuse to remove AFSPA from the soil of the state.

But today they are begging for votes pretending to love the people.

He said, it is high time the people taught them a good lesson.

Th Chaoba has been put in the fray after careful discussions as the common candidate of MDA which has been jointly formed by four political parties.

Let us try to bring a new change by voting for him, Dr Chandramani said.

MLA O Joy, leader of MPP Legislature Wing, who also addressed the huge gathering, said that MPP does not accept those who sell their own land while practising politics.

The Congress has been continuously executing people.

Dr T Meinya of Congress, who did not utter a single word when Mani Charenamei spoke in the Parliament to break Manipur's territorial integrity, is also contesting the election now.

The CPI is fielding a candidate from the Outer consitituency in the Inner constituency, and campaigning by selling the Jananeta.

At this juncture, let's all pray and carefully cast votes to bring a new change, O Joy said.

Spokesperson of MPP, MLA RK Anand said that the CPI and the Congress are the two faces of the same coin.

They refused to remove AFSPA.

The CPI pretends to ignore the designated camp of NSCN-IM in Manipur.

The UPA government at the Centre and the state government are virtually under the NSCN-IM which make it necessary to declare the two governments terrorist governments, he said.

MLA Dr Ng Bijoy also criticised the CPI candidate Dr M Nara for lying to the people saying that a cultural policy would be brought out and and ponies of Manipur would be protected and preserved.
