Rebel outfits behind killing of non-locals:Police

Imphal, January 09 2010: Based on the discloser made by two hardcore cadres of PREPAK , state police today charged that four rebel outfits, People Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), People Liberation Army (PLA), United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and Kanglei Yoel Kanna Lup (KYKL) were behind the series of killing non-Manipuris in the state.

Police also alleged that the two nabbed cadres were behind the hand grenade attack at the house of former chief minister and opposition leader of state Assembly Radhabinod Koijam on January 6 last.

The four outlaw outfits killed non-locals as per a decision taken at the top level as part of a plan to destabilize the present government (SPF government), charged additional SP, Imphal west district, AK Jhaljit while speaking to reporters here at his office chamber today.

Two cadres of the PREPAK outfit were nabbed by a combined team of Imphal west police commandos and troops 26 Assam Rifles today morning, the additional SP claimed.

Self style sergeant major of PREPAK identified as Moirangthem Monao alias Parimacha alias Sana (26), son of M Nimai Singh of Tera Sayang Lambi was apprehended by the combined force from Sagolband Tongbram Leikai, Imphal.

He was nabbed while trying to escape outside the state.

A bus ticket was also found from his possession for leaving the state by the combined team.

Security force had arrested him twice earlier.

Another activists of the same outfit identified as Laikhuram Munal Singh alias Sanathoi (24) son of late Amusana of Langjing Achouba Maning Leikai was also apprehended from his own residence in the follow up action of the discloser made by the apprehendee.

The duo were working under self style lieutenant Jemson alias Rozer alias Ramananda alias Nongpoknganba (32) of the same outfit, the additional SP said adding the man is still at large.

They were involved in various crimes including the recent attack at the residence of former chief minister, Radhabinod Koijam at Thangmeiband, Imphal.

Munal lobbed the bomb at the house while Monao drove the scooter they used at the time of attacking the residence of the former chief minister.

On that day police chased after them but taking advantage of the narrow bylanes at thickly populated Thangmeiband area, they made good their escapes, he added.

They were also directly involved in the killing of one non-Manipuri, sugarcane juice vendor at Kwakeithel Bazar on March 1, 2009, another non-local barber at Sagolband.

A 9 mm pistol, one magazine of AK-47 with three live rounds and a mobile handset seized from them.
