Imphal, February 28: The identities of the two KCP (MC) activists who killed CDPO, of Moirang, Yangambam Ningol Saikhom Ongbi Rameshwari inside her office chamber on November 14 last year have been identified and efforts are being made to trace them even if they are hiding outside Manipur, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today informed the Assembly.

In response to a call attention motion raised by MPP MLAs Dr I Ibohalbi and RK Anand in connection with the killing of Rameshwori during the Assembly session today, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who is also in charge of the Home portfolio said along with registering a case, the SDPO Moirang has been entrusted with the task of investigating the case as the Investigating Officer (IO).

Following the probe, the two KCP (MC) activists involved in the killing have been identified as Ngangom Khelendro alias Angouba of Napetpalli Mamang Leikai in Imphal East and Kshetrimayum Kritibas of Thinungei Maning Leikai.

As Khelendro managed to escape after being arrested, he has been declared as a problaimed offender by the Court and non-bailable warrant to arrest him has been issued.

The two are hiding outside Manipur and efforts are on to arrest them, said the CM and added once they are arrested, the reason behind the killing would be known.

The Chief Minister further informed the House that the State Government has provided ex-gratia to the bereaved family and one of the sons of the deceased has been offered the post of Sub-Inspector in the Police Department in accordance with the qualification and wishes of the son.

Ibobi also observed that with everyone coming to lodge their complaints to the Chief Minister instead of approaching the DGP, DC and SP concerned whenever there is alleged killing or abduction of an innocent person, a problem has been created.

However, during the course of investigation, it came to light that there is one reason or the other behind the killing or the abduction.

Along with providing security coverage to all those officers who are under threats in accordance to the intelligence report, review meetings are being held every week to control the law and order.

Even if adequate security are being deployed in all the Government offices, some of the employees are issuing permission to allow underground activists to come in, the Chief Minister lamented, while appealing to all the employees and the public leaders to extend their co-operation sincerely towards controlling the law and order problem.

Raising the call attention motion, MLA Dr Ibohalbi pointed out that the Government officials have not been able to sit in their offices and perform duty peacefully due to threats from UGs, thereby giving a serious impact on the developmental activities of the State.

He demanded to know what measures have been taken up by the State Government have ensure the safety and security of the Government officials.

He also demanded to know the reason behind the killing Rameshwori and the progress of the investigation and whether any arrest have been made in this connection.

MLA RK Anand demanded to know the root cause behind the killing of Rameshwori and the policy of the Govt to provide protection to the Government employees.
