Imphal, July 25: Opposition MLA O Joy today launched a frontal attack on the Health Department in the afternoon session of the House over the non implementation of the Nursing Home and Public Clinic Registration Act 1992.When the Demand for Grants for the Health Department came up for discussion in the House, O Joy said that the Nursing Home and Public Clinic Registration Act 1992 was enforced in the State to ensure the standard of the numerous private clinics that have mushroomed in the State during the last few years.

He questioned why the Act has still not been implemented here.

He also accused the Health Department of violating the Act in connivance with some doctors.

O Joy also said the functioning of the JN Hospital has totally failed.

Dr Amo however refuted O Joy maintaining that the Act has been implemented in the case of Nursing Home but due to some defects the same could not be implemented in the case of private clinics.

Notice yet to be issued: Though the Assembly yesterday decided to issue show cause notices on Justices N Surjamani and BB Deb the House is yet to issue the same till today.
