The bomb found near the southern gate of polo ground just next to the main gate was discovered by a police team led by DSP (CID) at about 2 pm, just 30 minutes before Governor Dr SS Sidhu's arrival at the ground to grace the final match of the Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament as chief guest.

When the police erased the oil, it was found painted with the numbers 7442 .

Just about ten minutes before the discovery of the bomb, police commandos were frisking passers-by in Paona Bazar.

A late report informed that police commandos have been making a thorough search outside the compound wall of the Raj Bhavan for any possible explosive planted in the surrounding area of the Raj Bhavan.

Meanwhile, the MPCC has strongly condemned the bomb blast at Babupara and planting of bombs in public places.
