Imphal, February 24: Throwing a spanner to the resolution adopted by the State Assembly on February 22 to urge the AICC to drop the Lim clause from the NPCC election manifesto, the five independent MLAs, sponsored by the United Naga Council, today maintained that they are against the resolution.

UNC sponsored MLAs who spoke out against House resolution

Talking to The Sangai Express at the residence of MLA Danny Shaiza today, the five UNC MLAs said that they were surprised that the House passed the private member resolution bill raised by the MPP to delete the Lim clause from the NPCC election manifesto.

The five UNC sponsored candidates, include Danny Shaiza, Dr Khashim Ruivah, K Raina, Wungnaoshang Keishing and Awangbou Newmei.

Stressing their point, the UNC sponsored MLAs said that when the private member resolution to delete the Lim clause from the NPCC manifesto was raised, none of them were present in the House.

As such the UNC sponsored MLAs can never accept the resolution passed by the House, said the five MLAs.

To a question why they were not present when such a critical issue was being discussed on the floor of the Assembly, they replied that the since an issue concerning Naga integration was brought up in a private resolution bill inside the House, they did not want to attend the session.

The UNC sponsored MLAs further said that they were surprised that private member resolution Bill raised by the Opposition was admitted in the House in the first place.

The demand to integrate all Naga inhabited areas under one administrative unit is being raised on the Government of India, they said and added that the question of whether it will be granted or not are two different things.

The relationship between Nagaland and Manipur may be affected severely if the two Assemblies keep on passing contradictory resolutions.
