PM summons Sidhu, Ibobi to New Delhi

Imphal, August 17: On being summoned by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Governor SS Sidhu and Chief Minister O Ibobi left for New Delhi today to discuss the situation arising out of the ANSAM sponsored blockade as well as the decision of the student body to lift the blockade temporarily.

During their stay at New Delhi, the Governor and the Chief Minister are likely to meet the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister as well as a host of other Central leaders to discuss the problems in Manipur.

The Chief Minister is also likely to call on AICC president Sonia Gandhi.

ANSAM had earlier decided to temporarily lift the economic blockade after the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister personally urged a team of Naga Hoho to lift the economic blockade keeping in mind the suffering of the general public.

The blockade was temporarily lifted on August 11.According to information received here, the Central leaders are expected to discuss the demand of ANSAM and to bring about a solution which will be long lasting and acceptable to all.

Meanwhile Union Home Secretary VK Duggal who arrived at Imphal today also left for Delhi after meeting the Governor, Chief Minister and officials concerned of the State Government, including top officers of the security force, including officers of the Army, Assam Rifles and CRPF.
