Nagas not to leave valley

Imphal, January 17: Unlike the ceasefire extension imbroglio episodes of June 2001 and other past social unrests with regard to the question of the state's territorial integrity, the Naga hoi-polloi dwelling in Imphal view the present renew Manipur territorial integrity slogans in different ways, at least this time.

In a random survey conducted by Newmai News Network in the last two days indicates that Nagas in the valley are not going to the repeat the 2001 anti-ceasefire agitation days when they had fled to the hill districts.

Miss Awon of Dewlahland, a school teacher by profession told this correspondent that the Nagas have no reason to harbor fear-psychosis whenever the question of Manipur Integrity issue crops up.

She said that she had full confidence on all the communities that they were mature enough to indulge in activities beyond their rights.

P Thekho of Chingmeirong, a University student appeals to everyone in Manipur not to club together any organization both undergrounds and social bodies with any communities - "why most of the people view certain, organization in synonym with the communities or ethnic groups", asked Mr Theko.

While Amos Pamei of Lamphel is of the opinion that targeting the government is the right perspective and added that the past protests and violence had been always headed towards the govt.So there is no need for any development of fear-psychosis in the minds of various communities living in the state.

A Naga scholar opines that the modern youths are more reasonable than the past generation and said that the youths today are occupied with career oriented duties and they have not time to think of other things which ensures hope and prosperity for everyone.

S Mathew, a school teacher affirmed that "there is nothing to be dismayed about anything if one is reasonable enough".

The school teacher said that it is the government who has power to disintegrate or otherwise, regarding the territorial integrity of Manipur, so the target should be to the government.
