Imphal, April 07: Dr Moirangthem Nara, the CPI candidate for inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency today said he is a candidate of the people not only CPI.

Speaking during the meet the candidate programme organized by editors forum, Manipur at DIPR he said the threat to the territorial integrity of Manipur is not over yet.

He would inform the MPs about the matter he said.

He dreams the make Manipur a model-state of the country.

We need a strong voice to protest the malafide intention of the government and tide over the financial crunch he said.

The Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited Nagaland and announced a package and he was supposed to visit Manipur too.

He cancelled it for political reason.

Dissatisfaction breeds insurgency, the rich and the poor in Manipur suffer.

To end insurgency we should bring the insurgents to the negotiating table he observed.

Resource mobilization is a must.

Medicinal plants have to be identified and used diseases he said.

Speaking further on the issues he would deal with if elected he said Loktak is the life of the people, we have to preserve it.

Railway line and trans-Asian highway would be given priorities he said.

Politicians are not businessmen.

It requires courage and determination he said.

Shifting political parties is just like betraying the people he said.

Far-sightedness, vision once required he said.

Th Tomba, state executive member said stability will come from a stable mind and Dr Nara's loyalty to party, ideology is outstanding he said.

Around 20 meeting are held everyday.

Dr Nara said the political process has to continue when asked about the ban on election process.

Discussions, meetings are normal thing he said.

Culture has to be used as an instrument to fight social evils he opened.

A culture of peace should replace the divisive politics that we witness.

Politics divides us; however culture unites us he said.

After joining politics in 1973 he won in 1985 as the lone CPI candidate.

He worked as minister of state and cabinet minister.

As in charge of veterinary department he tried to augment milk supply.

The milk production was just around 500 litres.

To increase the milk supply he did some research and found that the Ubraeblanca of Cuba produced about 110 litres a day.

This is a record.

It could not be brought due to the various government prohibitions though Cuba offered to provide such cows free of cost.

He further said the international polo tournament organized in 1990 was a landmark.

The next year as a part of World Peace movement the International Cultural Conference festival was held in Manipur.

Polo was also played.

The successful polo tournament helped the world recognize Manipur as the birth place of polo he said.

As minister in charge of science and technology he said he tried to make popularize science.

At the battle field of Khongjom as a peace activist the Khongjom peace park was opened.

A peace conference was held at Hojai, Assam so that peace could return to the hot spot.

He further said about the Manipur festivals held in other parts of the country.

Furtherance of film movement was attempted so that the culture of the state could be shown to other countries easily.

The MFDC was almost closed down and luckily the government managed to save it.

Kangla will be transferred to the Arts and Culture department he said and money will be provided to save it.

Sericulture project will also be started soon and will provide job to the people of the state.
