Imphal, February 05, 2009: IN YET, two youths suspected to be underground activists have been gunned down by a combined team of Imphal west police commandos and troops of 39 Assam Rifles at Tengdongyang Chingol some two kilometer south of Sekmai police station tonight at around 7 pm.

Police report said that a 9mm pistol loaded with three live rounds of ammunitions, an India make hand grenade, three empty case of 9mm ammunitions, five empty case of AK rifle recovered from the spot where the two suspects were killed.

The two slain men seem to belong to Meetei Pangal.

Sekmai police retrieved the dead bodies from the spot and deposited at RIMS morgue for official identifications.

Mention may be made that troops of the 57 mountain division in joint operation with Imphal west police commandos had also killed one PREPAK cadre last night at Kangchup area which a statement of the PIB (Defense Wingg) today has claimed eliminating during a fierce gun fight which lasted for around 10 minutes.

One pistol with some live rounds and fired cases of pistol and AK rifles were recovered from the spot, the statement added.
