Imphal, April 03: Contending that the Chief Minister's statement that he would initiate steps to revoke Armed Forces Special Power Act if the Central forces continue their excesses is violative of the model code of conduct prescribed by the ECI, FPM is all set to put up the matter before the ECI.

Mention may be made here that Chief Minister Okram Ibobi had made the statement during the flag hoisting ceremony of Dr Th Meinya at the latter's Khumbong residence yesterday.

The CM's version was virtually targeted to lure the voters in favor of the Congress candidate in the Inner Manipur parliamentary seat, said a spokesman of FPM.

Newspaper clippings of the CM's speech would be despatched to the ECI for taking necessary actions, he said adding that the move would be carried out after due consultation with the DPA members.

Meanwhile, major constituent members of DPA discussed at length the strategies the Opposition would chalk out for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls during a meeting held this evening at the residence of the DPA candidate Dr Chandramani.

In the meantime the CPM has fixed April 5 for choosing the party it would support for the outer seat in the forthcoming 14th Lok Sabha elections.

For the inner seat, the party has already decided to support CPI candidate Dr M Nara Singh.
