Imphal, March 31: Accelerating the tempo for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, three prominent political leaders, Th Chaoba of the BJP, Dr L Chandramani of the DPA (FPM) and Dr Nara of the CPI today filed their nomination papers.

Election in the Inner Parliamentary seat is scheduled to be held on April 26.The three candidates filed their nomination papers after the Returning Officer issued the election notification for the Inner seat, as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India today.

The election notification was issued at 11 am and interestingly, BJP candidate Th Chaoba arrived at the office of the Returning Officer with his supporters to file his nomination papers at 10 am.

Art and Culture Minister Dr M Nara also submitted his nomination papers as a CPI candidate to the Returning Officer today.

A number of CPI leaders including PCS Minister Ph Parijat accompanied Dr Nara when he submitted his nomination papers.

Congress nominee in the Inner seat Dr Th Meinya is yet to submit his nomination papers.

He is expected to file his nomination papers in a day or two.

As the two partners of the SPF, the CPI and the Congress could not work out a consensus formula in the Inner, the two coalition partners had decided to go in for a friendly fight instead.

DPA consensus candidate, sans the BJP, and president of the FPM, Dr L Chandramani also submitted his nomination papers today.

A number of FPM leaders accompanied Dr L Chandramani at the time of filing his nomination papers.

Other DPA members including MPP president O Joy, MPP MLA Dr Nimaichand Luwang, former Chief Minister and leader of the MNC W Nipamacha and DRPP president Udoy Thongam accompanied Dr L Chandramani.

Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West District and Returning Officer No 1 Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency has announced the date of filing nomination papers from the aspiring candidates who wish to contest the election for the lone Lok Sabha seat from Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, for which the Constituency will go to the polls on April 26 between 7 am and 5 pm.

In a notification, Imphal West DC and Returning Officer No 1 of Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Y Surchandra Singh informed thai the nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or his proposer to the Returning Officer or to the Additional District Magistrate, Imphal West T Lhouvum, who is also the Assistant Returning Officer No 1 Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, at the office of the Imphal West DC, Lamphelpat between 11 am and 3 pm on any day other than public holiday within April 7.The scrutiny of the nominations filed would be done on April 8 at 11 am at the same office from where the aspiring candidates may also obtained the forms of nomination papers, according to the notification.
