Imphal, May 11 2010: The All Communities United Front (ACUF) Manipur has called upon all communities to stand united and defeat the alleged diabolic policy followed by the Government of India aimed animosity between different States of the North East as well amongst the people of Manipur.

Addressing a press meet today, ACUF secretary general L Mangal asserted that the clearance given by the Government of India for NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah to visit Manipur was a conspiracy to trigger communal clashes in Manipur as well as the entire North East region.

On account of the Government of India's such diabolic policy, there is a simmering communal tension in Manipur.

Stating that Manipur does not belong to any single community, Mangal pointed out that the Nagas, Kukis, Meiteis, Pangals and many other smaller communities have been living together in Manipur since many ages.

No community should indulge in any policy or activity that would insult or hurt the interest of other communities.

No community should work to break up Manipur, Mangal called out.

Rather, all the people of Manipur should stand united against the alleged repressive and discriminatory treatment of Manipuris by the Government of India.

If Muivah intends to visit Manipur, he should first seek the consent of the people of Manipur.

Had he sought permission from leaders of all communities of Manipur, the unfortunate incident that took place at Mao Gate on May 6 might not have happened.

He further appealed to security forces not to open fire in their efforts to control a situation.
