Imphal, August 01: The Bishnupur district bandh being called in protest against the arrest of three members of the JAC formed in connection with killing of Meinam Somen and Haorokcham Somendro continued to affect the normal life of the people.

Meisnam Somen of Bishnupur Ward No.VI and Haorokcham Somendro of Bishnupur Ward No.VIII have been killed by a combine force of Imphal West Police Commandos and personnel of 12 Maratha Light Infantry after an alleged shoot out on July 15 last.

But the family members and the JAC refuted the police claim asserting that the slain duo were innocent persons.

After a series of agitations, the bandh has been called in protest against the killing as well as against the arrest of three members of the JAC.

On account of the bandh, passenger buses passing through the district continued to stay off the road and market places shut down giving a serious impact on the normal activities of the people.

Attendance in Govt offices and educational institutions of the district was also reportedly thin as a result of the bandh.
