Imphal, October 21 2008: As part of its investigation into the circumstances leading to last minute exclusion of Manipuri weightlifter Laishram Monika Devi from Beijing Olympics on alleged charge of failing dope test, the CBI team which is currently at Imphal has today taken the statements of the functionaries of the Manipur Olympic Association including its president.

The CBI team had also met Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Sports Minister N Biren Singh today.

During the course of the meeting, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh reportedly told the CBI team to find out the truth of the matter as the case of Monika has hurt the sentiment of the people of Manipur besides discouraging the sportspersons.

In response, the CBI team gave its assurance of doing the needful.

The CBI team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police KS Thakur also met the Chief Secretary Rakesh for the second time today.
